Food
What would you recommend for someone buys food at a Safeway?

I am aware that Safeway has a reputation for pricey food. I think the bread and peanut butter could work on a budget though.

If you have access to cheaper stores like Aldi or Walmart things are always cheaper at those stores.

I did all of my grocery shopping off the weekly flyer. Often you can find good sales on produce and certain staples. If possible try to buy your meat somewhere else, the value is really bad. If that’s not an option, get the family packs and freeze the rest. It’s also much easier to find deals online. Make your list there and note the brands. It’s more time intensive than other grocery stores but doable!

Safeway isn't as cheap as Aldi or Walmart but it's not a bougie chain either.

Safeway is between 10-15% more expensive than other options in my area, and that's with a membership. Even bread and peanut butter. It's got a better selection on a lot of things, so I only go there when I absolutely have to for a particular thing.

I am assuming you are walking to the store, and that's why it is your only option? Start using the website. Don't just check the circulars, check out their digital coupons. But honestly, shop anywhere else.

Shop the coupons there. I know it’s a different store but Raley’s had 80/20 ground beef for 2.99 a pound. Coupons can come in pretty clutch.

Use the weekly circular

Plan your menu around what’s on sale that week. Also, Friday has additional sale items

Don’t. Go to Grocery outlet

The vons (also safeway/albertsons) where I lived frequently had sales on frozen vegetables. The Spring Mix was my favorite.
